Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has issued a decree increasing army pensions by 250 per cent, Allmesryoon.com reported on Tuesday. The decree is based on the terms of a law dating from 1984.

According to the news website, the decree was published in the official state newspaper and is designed to be enacted retrospectively from June 30. It was issued after officials had studied the pension and retirement section of the Egyptian Constitution following a proposal by Colonel General Sedki Sobhi, the head of the armed forces and Minister of Defence and Arms Production.
