Fatah welcomes EU plan to label illegal settlement products

September 8, 2015 at 11:54 am

Member of Fatah Central Committee Nabeel Shaath welcomed the EU plans to label products made in illegal Israeli settlements, Quds Press reported yesterday.

This is a measure towards delegitimising the Israeli occupation’s illegal settlements built in the occupied West Bank, Shaath said.

In an interview with local Palestinian radio, Shaath said that the UK had started labelling the settlement products. “This proves that this measure became an EU mandatory decision,” he said.

He pointed out that such measures consider the products of the Israeli settlements as being “stolen from the Palestinians”, calling for more similar measures leading to ending Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Regarding the petition signed by more than 100,000 Britons calling for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he said that this is a popular effort preceding an official step, citing the Palestinian Authority’s efforts to prosecute Netanyahu over his crimes in Gaza before the ICC.
