Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas pledged not to announce the dismantling of the PA or the cancellation of the Oslo Accords during his upcoming speech at the UN summit, an Israeli newspaper reported yesterday.

Haaretz reported that senior Israeli officials said that Abbas told a number of European diplomats last week that he would not call of the Oslo agreement during his speech.

On Saturday, Alkhaleejonline.com revealed that Abbas is planning to “drop a bombshell” during his upcoming speech at the UN General Assembly summit later this month.

It reported several PA officials saying that Abbas is to announce that Palestine is under occupation and cancel PLO agreements with Israel. Some of them expected he would announce the dismantling of the PA.

Israeli officials said that Abbas told the European diplomats that he does not plan to announce measures such as “halting security cooperation” with Israel.
