Hamas: Meshaal is not on social media

Hamas yesterday stressed that its political leader Khaled Meshaal does not have any accounts on social media sites, Al-Resalah newspaper reported.

Senior Hamas leader Izzat Al-Risheq said any account set up under Meshaal’s name was “fake”; adding that people are trying to distort Hamas’s image by setting up fake accounts in its leaders’ names.

Hamas has previously denied that Saleh al-Arouri, who spent approximately 17 years held in administrative detention inside an Israeli jail and currently lives in Turkey, has any social media accounts.
