The Syrian Network for Human Rights announced on Tuesday that the regime in Damascus and its allies have killed 61 people, including 14 children and 11 women, since the start of the Geneva III talks, Almesryoon.com has reported.

“Thirty of the civilians,” explained the organisation, “were killed in the space of four days in Aleppo, two were in Idlib, eight in the countryside around Damascus, four in Daraa, sixteen in Deir Al-Sour and one in Al-Raaq.”

Representatives of the Syrian opposition refused to take part in the talks, which started on Friday, until the terms of UN Security Council resolution 2254 are implemented. The resolution calls for a halt to attacks on civilians, the lifting of all sieges and the release of prisoners. However, the opposition backed down after “guarantees” from friendly countries, including the US and Saudi Arabia, that the relevant articles would be implemented.
