Gunmen from the Sabeiha tribe have been surrounding soldiers loyal to Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi since Sunday afternoon. The pro-government troops are in a compound in the south of Taiz province, a security source has revealed.
“The clashes erupted after a market stallholder belonging to the tribe was killed by a security agent,” explained Hamdi Al-Absi. He told Anadolu news agency that Abu Oyoon was killed following a verbal exchange with security forces.
“The tribesmen have pledged to avenge the death of their relative,” added Al-Absi. “They attacked the security forces, killing two soldiers and wounding seven others, while they continue to besiege the government complex in the city of Turba.”
