A recent poll showed that 46 per cent of Jordanian youth are pessimistic about the upcoming parliamentary elections, noting democracy in the country is fake, Arabi21 reported yesterday.
The Jordanian elections commission has made new changes in the elections law ahead of tomorrow’s elections.
According to the poll, 40 per cent of youths said that they do not trust the candidates because they do not make any change when they win, noting this is the reason why they do not vote.
Meanwhile, 27 per cent of those who took part in the poll said democracy in the country is fake.
Aged between 18 and 35 years, 60 per cent of respondents said they did not take part in previous elections.
Nearly half of the youths, 53 per cent, said they did not have enough information about the candidates, 46 per cent said they do not know about or have poor information about the elections law and 24.3 per cent said they are well informed about the law.
