Omani truck with weapons for Houthis seized in Yemen

September 30, 2016 at 4:35 pm

Local sources in Yemen have reported that an Omani truck that contained weapons for Houthi militias was seized in the Marib province in central Yemen last night.

Local resistance forces noticed the truck and stopped it for inspection. They found thermal rockets, along with ammunition.  The weapons were covered with electronic devices in an attempt to mask the delivery.

The driver then admitted to receiving the delivery from Sarfait port, a settlement in Oman’s Dhofar Governorate, before driving westwards towards Yemen.

Yemen has been locked in a bitter battle between Shia Houthi fighters allied with forces loyal to ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh and government forces led by President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, along with local tribes and resistance forces who are being backed by the Saudi-led coalition’s airstrikes.
