Israel to equip civilian aircraft with new defence systems

February 16, 2017 at 3:14 pm

Israel’s security services plan to equip civilian aircraft with updated missile defence systems and tighten security measures on board, Quds Press reported on Wednesday. The steps are being taken because the Israeli authorities fear “terrorist” attacks, it is claimed. El Al, Israel’s national carrier, has had flare and missile defence systems in place on its aircraft for a few years.

The “unique technological improvements” were revealed by Israel’s Walla news website. They include “bulletproof dual doors between the cabin and the cockpit in order to protect the safety of the carriers during their flights.”

In addition, it has been decided that the number of security guards on board will be increased, as well as other security measures, the details of which were not provided, for obvious reasons.
