Iran stops issuing entry visas for US citizens

March 8, 2017 at 5:49 pm

Iranian authorities yesterday stopped issuing entry visas for American citizens after President Donald Trump issued a 90-day ban on the entry to the US of citizens from six Muslim majority countries, Moheet.com reported.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, said that Iran’s counter-measure against the US visa ban, which was issued in January, is still in place and there is no need to take a new decision.

On Monday, Trump signed a new decree banning citizens from six Middle Eastern countries from entering the United States, after his controversial first attempt was blocked in the courts.

The new decree excluded the Iraqi citizens from the ban and Green Card and visa holders.

More than a million Iranians live in the US and more than 35,000 have visited it since 2015.
