The PLO condemned on Wednesday the continued Israeli violations against Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, including the desecration of the mosque by extremist Jewish settlers and officials protected by the police, Moheet reported.

In a statement, the PLO described tours of Jewish settlers and officials around Al-Aqsa Mosque as “unprecedented provocative actions.”

At the same time, it condemned Israeli restrictions that had been imposed on the Al-Aqsa Mosque that aimed to block the entrance of Muslims into the Mosque and performing their daily prayers or even visiting Islam’s third holiest site.

Meanwhile, it warned that the influx of hundreds of Israeli Jewish settlers inside the Mosque’s sanctuary alongside senior Israeli officials and performing religious rituals for more than a week reflects “extremist and racist” policies that undermine the right to worship for Muslims.

The PLO noted that such actions might turn the Israeli-Palestinian conflict into a religious one, stressing that Israeli authorities aim to gradually implement a Judaisation plan to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to change the status quo that has been in place since the start of the occupation in 1967.

Concluding its statement, the PLO called for the international community, the Arab League and all interested parties to put pressure on the Israeli occupation in order to stop its “repeated aggressions and violations” against the Islamic holy site and to lift the siege on it.
