Israeli forces demolished today a kindergarten in Jabal Al-Baba Bedouin community located in Jerusalem’s eastern town of Alezariya.

The representative of the Jabal Al-Baba community, Atta Mozara’a, told Quds Press that Israeli army bulldozers stormed the village where they demolished the kindergarten and seized all its contents, under the pretext that it was built without a construction license.

Israeli soldiers, he added, detained residents of the village and closed the area, while preventing media from entering.

The kindergarten was destroyed despite the European Union (EU) flags that were posted on the building, he noted. The Israeli authorities have demolished dozens of EU-funded homes and structures in Jerusalem.

The Palestinian official pointed out that the demolition took place two days before the start of the school year.

Jabal Al-Baba is one of the 18 Palestinian Bedouin communities located within the area which Israeli authorities have allocated for the so-called E1 settlement. Israel plans to relocate all the Palestinian communities in the E1 area in order to pave the way for building a large new settlement that is expected to divide the West Bank and Jerusalem.
