Egypt Oil Minister Tariq Al-Mulla said gas extracted from Atoll and Zohr gas fields will help the country become self-sufficient before the end of 2018.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting, the minister said the gas fields will add 600 million cubic feet of gas per day to the country’s production which will help Egypt reach self-sufficiency in the supply of liquefied natural gas with daily production of six billion cubic feet before the end of next year.

He added that test production at Atoll offshore gas field, which began a week ago with a production capacity of 300 million cubic feet per day, is a new achievement in the sector.

The minister added that the ministry has tested operations at the Misr oil depot in the Badr region which costs $33 million. Al-Mulla added that the depot accommodates modern equipment and machinery and has a storing capacity of up to 30 million litres of diesel and gasoline.
