Security coordination kept confidential to protect interests, says PA official

Despite newspaper Israel Hayom revealing details of security activity carried out by Israeli and Palestinian security forces to prevent Iranian attempts to infiltrate the West Bank and Gaza Strip, a source within the PA President’s office stressed that security coordination with the Israeli occupation authorities is ongoing but at low levels, and it is confidential.

“This is in order not to affect the security interests of the parties,” explained the source. “The PA leadership is very angry with General Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force and responsible for security issues outside the borders of Iran.”

The anonymous source claimed that Soleimani’s support and funding for Palestinian factions is a threat to Palestinian national security. “As such, the Iranian attempts should be prevented at all costs, even if through security cooperation with the Israelis.”
