The Baptist Church in Jordan has called on people to support the kingdom’s humanitarian and relief efforts for the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip amid the ongoing Israeli bombardment which has claimed the lives of over 5,000 Palestinians, the majority of them children.
In a statement issued yesterday, the head of the Jordanian Baptist Church, Rev Nabeeh Abbasi, called on churchgoers, churches, institutions and parishes to mobilise material and in-kind resources in support of Gaza.
“The Jordanian Baptist Church sect raises its prayers in unity with all the churches in Jordan and the world for peace to come in the land of peace in Palestine, the land of birth, crucifixion and resurrection, and we pray that the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II be crowned with success to achieve just peace,” the statement read.
Last week, Israeli warplanes targeted the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, killing nearly 500 people.
