Lebanon will remain strong against Israel, the head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, Sayyed Hashim Safi Al-Din, said yesterday,

Speaking at the funeral of Commander Mohamed Naih Nasser who was assassinated by Israel on Wednesday, Safi Al-Din said: “The Zionist enemy must not think that after targeting these heroes, the south will be oppressed.”

“In our resistance, a banner does not fall, a front does not fail, and a confrontation does not weaken. When a martyr leader rises, another takes up the banner and moves on with new determination,” he added.

He stressed that “the Israeli occupation army, after successive strikes, will one day not be able to achieve victories in any battle or confrontation,” adding that the Israeli occupation army is facing a “resounding defeat” in the face of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people of Gaza and their resistance.

“The Lebanon front will remain burning and strong, and will become stronger, against the Zionist enemy,” he added.

Tensions have soared along Lebanon’s border with Israel amid cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv pressed ahead with its deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 37,900 people since 7 October last year.

At least 358 Hezbollah fighters have been killed since 8 October 2023, according to an Anadolu tally.
