Pakistan PM urges Security Council to punish Israel for Gaza genocide

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged the UN Security Council to sanction Israel and impose an arms and trade embargo as a result of its genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Anadolu reported.

“We must compel Israel to halt its genocidal war in Gaza and prevent its attempt to provoke a wider conflict in the Middle East,” Sharif said in a brief statement while participating in the Leadership for Peace debate on Wednesday.

“It is time to consider sanctions against Israel, including an arms and trade embargo,” he added.

Sharif also condemned the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, adding that Israeli leaders should be held accountable for their crimes against the Palestinian and Lebanese people.

He pointed out that the proliferation of war in the Middle East, Europe or other regions threatens world order.

Since Monday, the Israeli occupation army has launched the “most violent and extensive” attack on Lebanon in nearly 20 years, killing 663 people, including children and women, wounding 2,505 others and displacing nearly 70,000.
