Palestinian sources have revealed that Hamas is counting the number of Israeli captives who are still alive and held in Gaza, according to the Spanish news agency EFE.

A source told EFE that senior Hamas officials engaged with various factions in Gaza to address recent developments regarding Israeli captives as part of preparations for a potential prisoner exchange.

The source explained that the focus is on identifying live prisoners while also attempting to locate the remains of those killed during Israeli air strikes.

There is significant consensus within Hamas and among other factions on the need to establish a ceasefire, similar to the agreement reached in Lebanon, the source noted.

The source added that Hamas negotiators are concerned about the possibility that only a few prisoners remain alive.
