The Islamic Jihad movement said on Tuesday that the Palestinian Authority’s security services in the occupied West Bank “are crossing religious, national and familial lines” by continuing their operations against the resistance in the city of Jenin and its refugee camp for the sixth consecutive day. A number of resistance fighters have been arrested.

“With funds belonging to the families of martyrs being confiscated, the refugee camp being besieged and armoured vehicles and snipers being deployed, the PA campaign is reminiscent of the [Israeli] enemy’s actions in its raids,” said Islamic Jihad.

The movement pointed out that the campaign appears to be a part of the plan implemented against the resistance battalions deployed in the cities and camps of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem which play an “effective and distinguished” role in confronting the attacks of the occupation army and the armed settler gangs.

“The actions of the Ramallah Authority security services cross religious, national and familial lines, in a suspicious insistence on dragging the occupied West Bank into strife, internal conflict and fighting that serves the interests of the enemy, which is violating the Palestinian people wherever they are, seizing their homes, and destroying public and private property before the eyes of the whole world.”

The Jenin Battalion of Islamic Jihad addressed the people of Jenin directly, saying: “We have emerged from under the rubble of what the occupation has destroyed, and from the blood and sacrifices of our martyrs. We appeal to you out of our concern for your security and safety, and we ask you not to fall into the trap of the forbidden set for us.” It also warned that a plot is being carried out by some of the PA security agency leaders.
