Israeli occupation soldiers’ testimonies published by Haaretz regarding the war in Gaza are “new evidence of unprecedented war crimes and complete ethnic cleansing operations, carried out in an organised manner and under the army’s leadership and its fascist government,” Hamas said yesterday.
This comes after Israeli newspaper Haaretz quoted reserve officers as saying that “Israeli army divisions compete over who kills the largest number of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.”
The officers, who served in the Netzarim axis in central Gaza, included shocking recounts about the occupation army’s behaviour in Gaza, including extrajudicial murder of civilians.
According to one soldier, “the orders are that anyone who crosses the line in Netzarim must receive a bullet in the head,” explaining that a majority of those killed were civilians.
“We have orders to send pictures of the bodies and we have sent pictures of 200 dead people and it turned out that only ten of them were from Hamas,” the officer said.
Israel faces genocide charges at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity for the conduct of the war on Gaza.
