Far-right members of Israel’s government - including Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu - settler leaders and occupation soldiers have clearly stated their intention to resettle Gaza, build Jewish-only communities and evict Palestinians from the coastal enclave.
Many have highlighted their plan to create ‘Greater Israel’ from the Nile to the Euphrates, encompassing land in Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and northern Saudi Arabia.
During an address to the media in September 2023, Netanyahu once again used a map of Israel that erased the occupied West Bank, marking it as Israeli territory.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has also repeatedly stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and could be seen praying there, in violation of laws which state only Muslim prayer is allowed at the holy site.
On 23 September 2024, Tel Aviv launched its largest military campaign against Lebanon in nearly 20 years. In under 10 days it killed 7 Hezbollah commanders including the group’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah and a number of senior figures in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also told Iranians that regime change will come 'sooner than people think'.
