Germany is worried about its citizens in Egypt

January 30, 2014 at 10:44 am

On Wednesday Germany’s foreign minister warned its citizens against travelling to several locations in Egypt, especially the tourism areas overlooking the Red Sea.

In a statement, the ministry said that German citizens are “advised to avoid travelling to the Nile Delta and should keep close to the residential areas of Cairo and Alexandria.” The statement also advised them to avoid places where demonstrations take place.

The ministry called for its citizens not to travel to the more deserted areas, especially near the borders with Libya and the Sudan, or in the north in the Sinai Peninsula, and not to approach the Egyptian-Israeli border.

The German citizens were also advised to strictly stick to the directions of the hotels and to carefully follow the news to learn about the latest political developments.
