Israeli settlements expand at rapid pace

February 10, 2014 at 11:42 am

Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics has revealed that the number of illegal settlements constructed in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem this year has increased by 130 per cent in comparison to last year.

According to the Centre’s report, “at least 32,000 housing units have been built since the beginning of 2013, with seven per cent of them built in the Jerusalem settlements.”

Israel’s Minister of Housing Uri Ariel has said that the settlement construction “will continue to rise at a rapid pace. The majority of ministers in Netanyahu’s cabinet support constructing the educational complex to teach the Torah. We will build many houses in the West Bank and Jerusalem, and we will say to ourselves, and then to the world, that the people of Israel are alive.”
