Israeli politicians attack Arab MK and accuse her of "undermining the State of Israel"

A member of Israel’s Knesset (parliament) has accused Arab MK Haneen Zoabi of “undermining the State of Israel” by participating in the Russell Tribunal on Palestine held in Cape Town earlier this week. The tribunal concluded by describing Israel as an “apartheid” state. Kadima Party MK Otniel Schneller filed a complaint against Zoabi to the Knesset Ethics Committee over her South Africa trip, as it was made without permission. Israel Radio has also reported that the ruling Likud Party criticized MK Zoabi and said that party sources want her to be banned from standing for election in future.

Haneen Zoabi testified at the third meeting of the Russell Tribunal. She told the Tribunal that Israel is a “racist” state, and its regime is trying to preserve itself as an exclusively Jewish state. “Unlike Israel, South Africa admitted that it was a racist regime, and that helped to bring about a change,” she added.
