On Tuesday, a senior Lebanese parliamentary delegation visited the Gaza Strip holding several meetings with Palestinian officials.

The delegation, which met the Palestinian Prime Minister in Gaza, Ismail Haniyya, included three members from the 14th March Coalition. They also met the deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Dr Ahmed Bahr.

A spokesman for the government in Gaza, Taher al-Nonou, said in a statement: “The delegation congratulated Mr Haniyya on the victory in the Israeli war on Gaza and passed the congratulations of the Lebanese people to the whole Palestinian nation.”

A number of Lebanese journalists accompanied the official delegation, which entered the Gaza Strip via the Rafah Crossing.

The head of the delegation and a representative of the Future Party, Jamal al-Jarrah, said in a statement: “the enemy’s acceptance of the conditions of the resistance is a big victory and a setback in its strategy.” Al-Jarrah reaffirmed the long standing position held by all Lebanese parties of solidarity with the Palestinian people and their cause.
