Tunisian President Mohamed Moncef Al-Marzouki has extended an invitation to his Egyptian counterpart, Mohammed Morsi, to take part in the second anniversary celebrations of the Tunisian revolution next month.

The invitation was passed to Samir Morcos, an assistant to the President Morsi, who is currently on a visit to Tunisia. President Al-Marzouki told Morcos of the importance of bilateral cooperation between Cairo and Tunis, especially due to the risks surrounding the democratic transition in both countries.

According to the Anatolia News Agency, Al-Marzouki said, “The revolutionary race and democratic transition give momentum to bilateral relations in all economic, social and cultural fields.”

In response, Mr. Morcos said that a successful transition to democracy is a priority. “We should share experiences to be able to overcome the many challenges,” he told the Tunisian president.
