IDF transfers reserve battalion to West Bank in preparation for possible 'September clashes'

February 20, 2014 at 3:34 pm

The Israeli newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth, has reported that the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) has transferred a battalion of reserve forces into the West Bank in preparation for possible violent confrontations with Palestinians expected to stage demonstrations around the planned Palestinian statehood bid at the United Nations this month.

Palestinian eyewitnesses have also said that Israeli forces are making expansions around the Hawara camp in Nablus, noting that IDF bulldozers had begun razing works in the camp’s vicinity and in parts that had been used as a landing strip for airplanes. The Palestinian eyewitnesses speculated that extra caravans would be set up in those areas, or they could possibly be used for the deployment of IDF tanks and military vehicles that will be brought to the Hawara camp.

Two days ago, the IDF transferred armoured vehicles and tanks to border points around Jenin.
