Israeli officers cancel visit to Britain for fear of arrest

February 27, 2014 at 11:34 pm

A number of senior Israeli army officials last week cancelled a visit to the UK after the British government refused to give guarantees they would not be arrested during their visit, the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronot, revealed yesterday 5th January.

Official sources confirmed they regard this incident as an extremely serious one, and renewed a request to the London government to make the necessary amendments to prevent its recurrence.

Israeli deputy Foreign Minister, Danny Ayalon, described what happened as a real threat to the essence of Israeli British relations.

Israeli Justice minister, Yaakov Neeman, and Deputy Minister Ayalon met yesterday day in Jerusalem with British Attorney General Patricia Janet Scotland, during a visit to the country, to discuss the matter with her.
