Hamas denies presence of Iranian explosives experts in Gaza

March 10, 2014 at 12:48 pm

The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has denied claims that Iranian explosives experts have arrived in the Gaza Strip. In a statement issued by the movement, spokesman Dr Sami Abu Zuhri said that such claims in an Egyptian newspaper are not true.

According to Al-Watan, Iranian experts have arrived in Gaza to work in Hamas-run laboratories to help in the production of explosives that will be then be transported to Sinai.

“We in Hamas deny claims about the presence of Iranian experts in the Gaza Strip,” said Abu Zuhri. “At the same time, we consider this allegation to be offensive to the people of Egypt, not the Palestinians, because it implies that the Egyptian security agencies and army are unable to do their jobs properly.”

He added that related claims about people being arrested while carrying explosives to be transported to Sinai are “just lies”.

Hamas, said Abu Zuhri, may be forced by “such lies” to publish the documents and video evidence in its possession to confirm that the allegations have been fabricated. “They are producing these lies in order to tarnish the image of the Palestinian resistance and the people of Palestine,” he insisted.
