Tunis denies Meshaal visit aimed at attaining residence

September 16, 2014 at 1:35 pm

A senior Tunisian official has denied that the visit of Hamas Leader Khaled Meshaal is aimed at discussing his residency in Tunis with Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki.

Anwar Al-Gharbi, Marzouki’s aide for international affairs, stressed that Meshaal’s visit to Tunis was to discuss the latest Palestinian issues following Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip and reaching a ceasefire with the occupation.

Quds Press reported Al-Gharbi as saying that the news reported by Tunisian and Arabic media outlets, that described the visit an effort by Meshaal to search for residence in Tunis as false.

“This issue was not posed for discussion with the Tunisian president,” Al-Gharbi told Quds Press. He called for the mass media, which has some problems with certain politicians, to stick to credibility and promote its policies to the level of their audience.
