The Strong Egypt Party has called for ministers sacked from the government to be investigated and punished if they are found to have committed any misdemeanours, Alamatonline.net has reported. The call was made following a cabinet reshuffle this week.
“For a long time, Egyptians are used to getting up in the morning to see ministers sacked and new ministers instated without knowing any of the details around any of the changes in their country,” Strong Egypt’s statement said. “What happened [on Thursday] is a repetition of the humiliation of the Egyptians, who have the right to know the reasons behind the reshuffle.”
The party stated that the reshuffle, which took place just three days before a national economic conference, proves that the state is living a state of “chaos”; three of those who lost their jobs are related to the economic portfolio.
“A change of people is one thing,” said Strong Egypt, “but we also need a change of policies otherwise the shuffle is useless.”
The party also called on the new interior minister to put an end to the killing in the country and meet Egypt’s security needs properly.
