339 Yemenis killed in Taiz

Some 339 people have been killed since the start of Houthis the attacks on the Governorate of Taiz, the Yemen Monitors’ Network said yesterday.

The network, which consists of seven human rights organisation and 15 researchers, said 64 children and 38 women were among those killed since 24 April by the Houthis and their allies who are aligned with former President Ali Abdullah Saleh. A further 1,278 people were wounded.

Meanwhile, the network said that 54 people were killed by the Saudi-led airstrikes, including 11 children and eight women. Twenty-two others were wounded.

The figures covered all the human rights violations committed in Taiz between 24 April 24 and 22 June.

In addition to the fatalities, the network said 675 houses, eight hospitals, 14 hotels, 48 schools and other educational facilities, 554 shops, 20 mosques and three historical sites were destroyed.

Some 600 Yemenis have also been kidnapped by the Houthis and groups allied with the former president, they include activists and civilians.
