An Israeli court yesterday sentenced Fatah official Jamal Abu El Lail to six months administrative detention, Quds Press reported.
Abu El Lail, who is a member of Fatah Revolutionary Council, was arrested from his home during an arrest campaign in the West Bank refugee camp of Qalandia, north of occupied Jerusalem, on 15 February.
Fatah Secretary in Jerusalem Adnan Gheith described the sentence as “oppressive”, stating that this would not undermine the movement’s fight “to liberate Palestine and establish the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
“The battle with the occupation is long and the Palestinians will not get tired and stop doing their national duty despite all obstacles facing them,” he said.
The Israeli news website Walla said that Abu El Lail was arrested because of his connection to a number of attacks that targeted Israeli settlers and soldiers in occupied Jerusalem. He is also accused of funding anti-Israeli activities and being affiliated to a “terrorist organisation”.
