There is evidence that Saudi Arabia has used white phosphorus in Yemen, the Washington Post reported today.
The paper said it had obtained photo and video evidence online that signalled the use of the dual use weapon.
US officials have confirmed that the US government has sold white phosphorus to Saudi Arabia but did not state when, or the quantity of the weapons sold. White phosphorus is not a banned weapon due to its dual use capabilities, but there are strict regulations on its use.
Meanwhile, Amnesty International has condemned US arms sales to Saudi. The organisation said it had confirmed that the bomb that struck an MSF hospital in Yemen on 15 August was US made.
