Tourism revenues in Tunisia were down eight per cent in the first nine months of the year when compared to the same period last year, official figures have shown.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, revenues from tourism up to the end of the tourism season on 30 September dropped from 1.97 billion ($0.88 billion) last year to 1.8 billion dinars ($0.8 billion), a decline of 8.4 per cent.

This is a reduction of 34.1 per cent when compared to the figures of 2014 prior to the attacks by extremists on the Bardo Museum and the beach in Sousse in March and June 2015 in which a number of foreign tourists were killed.
