The United States is using Apache and BlackHawk helicopters to support the Iraqi army fighting to retake Mosul from Daesh, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported.

A video, published on the news site, shows US helicopters in the eastern part of Mosul flying at low altitudes close to Iraqi and Kurdish forces.

The video shows a BlackHawk helicopter with a 134-caliber machine gun, an Apache helicopter, as well as a Chinook.

An Iraqi military source said the American helicopters intervene to resolve some difficult situations in the ongoing operations as part of the US’ contribution to the war on terrorism.

“Only land intervention can be described as direct intervention,” he stressed.

Sources in the Iraqi army attribute the progress in some battles to the US support.
