The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate called on Sunday for urgent moves to save the life of hunger-striker Mohamed Al-Qeq, Quds Press has reported. The journalist has been on hunger strike for 22 days in protest at his administrative detention, with neither charge nor trial, by the Israeli occupation authorities.
The union’s Vice President, Tahseen Al-Astal, said that the Israeli occupation government has recently increased its violations against its members, aiming to silence them and prevent them from reporting the “reality” of the brutal military occupation to the world.

Speaking during a protest in front of the UN office in Gaza, Al-Astal called for pressure to be put on the Israeli government for the release of Al-Qeq and other prisoners. Furthermore, he insisted, the use of indefinite administrative detention by the Israelis should be stopped.
