Most of the outstanding issues with Saudi Arabia regarding Iranian pilgrims have been resolved, the caretaker of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organisation Hamid Mohammadi said.

Mohammadi said the Iranian delegation proposed to Saudi Arabia that representatives from Iran participate in the fact-finding committee on the Mina stampede incident in order to reach a final and comprehensive settlement, Iran’s IRNA news agency reported.

Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Reza Salehi-Amiri described the last round of negotiations with Saudi officials as “successful”, where “some issues were settled and we will discuss the rest of the issues in the next round of negotiations”.

He explained that “one or two issues have not been settled yet,” adding that if the remaining issues were settled, Iranian pilgrims will be able to attend this year’s Hajj.
