Kuwaiti woman arrested for failing to help suicidal maid

A Kuwaiti woman has been arrested for filming as her house help attempted suicide by dropping herself from the window of the seventh floor flat.

Footage circulating on social media shows the woman filming as she walks up to her Ethiopian house help who is holding onto the window’s edge with one hand.

“Appa, crazy girl come,” she can be heard saying.

Terrified, the house help scream: “Hold me, hold me.” Then falls onto the flat roof beneath.

She sustained a broken arm and was left bleeding from her nose and ear and is receiving medical treatment in hospital.

News reports since the video was circulated claim the house help had resigned from her job and was being tortured as a result, locked in a room and refused food for two days before she decided to take her own life.

The 12-second video was taken in the Sabah Al-Salem district of Kuwait City.
