Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi to be released

May 31, 2017 at 12:55 pm

The attorney-general of the Ministry of Justice in the Libyan interim government, Issa Al-Saghir, has finalised the release of Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi citing the “power of law.”

After reviewing the papers of the accused Saif Al-Islam Muammar Gaddafi, and referring to the above-mentioned amnesty law, and study of the excluded cases from the application of the law shows that these cases do not apply to him.

Al-Saghir yesterday asked the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq battalion, which is currently guarding him in prison, to release former dictator Gaddafi’s son.

Al-Saghir confirmed that the battalion is keeping Gaddafi in a safe place for his personal safety from groups who wish to see him dead like his father.

The battalion published a video of the Libyan minister’s statements on its social media sites.

The deputy of the Ministry of Justice in the interim government stressed the necessity to release the son of Gaddafi under a 2015 amnesty law issued by the legislative power of the parliament.

A letter to the institution of reform and rehabilitation supervising prisons in Zintan was sent to activate the amnesty law and release Gaddafi and to allow his free movement inside Libya and abroad.
