Residents of Arab-Israeli towns strike following murder

A general strike is being held across a number of Arab cities in Israel today following the death of an 20-year-old Arab man at the hands of Israeli soldiers in Kafr Qasem on Monday night.

According to a statement, the strike included local authorities, shops, institutions and public and private facilities.The Follow-up Committee called on the Arab public to participate in the protest and escalate the matter, adding that Friday sermons should be used to highlight the Israeli crime against Ahmed Mahmoud Taha.

Taha was shot when demonstrators took to the street in protest against the arrest of another Arab citizen of Israel on Monday night.

According to local news outlet Arab48, police officers fired tear gas, stun grenades and rubber-coated steel bullets at the crowd
