Chief of Hamas’ Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh stressed yesterday that the Great Return March will continue after 15 May and will become part of Palestinian resistance against the occupation, Quds Press reported.

During the annual speech for preachers in Gaza, organised by the ministry of endowment and religious affairs prior to the holy month of Ramadan, Haniyeh said: “The Great Return March to be transferred to the West Bank and abroad.”

He added: “This is a step [that has been] decided by the High Committee for the March of Return and Breaking the Siege,” noting that the demonstrations will peak on 15 May.

“Get ready for the human typhoon along all the borders of Palestine, inside and outside occupied Palestine,” he said, adding: “I am calling for all free people around the world to stand beside our people.”

He continued: “Palestinians in Gaza are [demonstrating] on the borders to undermine the deals aimed to harm Jerusalem and the refugees. Despite starvation, poverty and punitive measures, tens of thousands turned out.”

The top Hamas leader said that the Great Return March returned the Palestinian issue back to the top of the international agenda, shed light on the Gaza siege and revived the right of return.
