The Lebanese Military Court has released activist Jana Abu Diab for lack of evidence in the case which saw her accused of working for the Israeli national intelligence agency Mossad.
Abu Diab accused the Palestinian embassy in Lebanon of fabricating the case because she has been speaking up against the Fatah Movement’s violations against the Palestinian people.
Abu Diab said that there have been corruption and the theft of money that had been committed using the names of refugees in Lebanon, local media reported. When she started to stand up against the “corrupt people” and told an embassy official about the matter, she was arrested for being a spy.

Abu Diab accused the Palestinian Authority members of backing high-profile wanted militant Bilal Badr with money and weapons and stressed that she had been seeking his removal “because he was a terrorist”. That was one of the reasons that led to her imprisonment, she added.
Regarding accusations that she had links to a suspected Mossad agent who worked in the occupied Golan Heights, Abu Diab said she cut ties with Salim Al-Safadi on 3 September 2017 when she felt he wanted to obtain security information from her.
She added that when she became suspicious of him she warned security officials at the Palestinian embassy.
Abu Diab, the head of Ma’an Society, was arrested in mid-November 2017 by the Public Information Division. She was referred to the Military Court and interrogated several times in court.
