Two Palestinian families in the city of Jerusalem demolished their homes yesterday in order to avoid paying Israeli occupation forces to raze them, Quds Press reported.

According to the site, the the families of Shawamra and Abu Rumaila demolish their homes in the town of Beit Hanina, north of the Jerusalem, built more than 17 years ago instead of paying for the Jerusalem municipality to demolish them which could cost more than 100,000 shekels ($27,440).

In January, the Israeli Supreme Court ruled that the land on which the homes were built belongs to settlement associations.

On Tuesday, another Jerusalemite family evacuated their home in the town of Silwan and demolished it the next day after occupation forces claimed it was built without the necessary planning consents.

Last month, the Israeli authorities forced three citizens to demolish their homes and carried out the demolition of 15 houses and businesses.
