Tunisian Parliament Speaker Rached Ghannouchi praised the results of the vote obtained by the new government saying that the fact that the government of Elyes Fakhfakh won the confidence of 129 deputies is an honourable result given the tensions taking place in the political field.

Ghannouchi indicated that there was a fear that the new government would not obtain the required votes, but it had exceeded expectations.

He mentioned the government contract document and mentioned that the Prime Minister has indicated that his priorities are mainly social.

Head of Ennahda movement and speaker of the Tunisian Parliament stressed that tension is a constant aspect of politics, except that our country manages politics by political means rather than military and secretive means.

Ghannouchi had signed the correspondence addressed to President Kais Saied after the Parliament had granted confidence to the government of Fakhfakh, in which Ennahda won the lion’s share, seven ministries, compared to the other parties.

The government includes 30 ministers and two state secretaries.

On Thursday 27 February 2020, the parliament approved the composition of the government of Fakhfakh, which obtained 129 votes. In return, 77 deputies rejected it and only one deputy retained his vote.
