The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has warned that over 400,000 Palestinians in northern Gaza are at risk of dying from starvation and thirst due to Israel’s complete siege of the area and ban on the entry of food and water for almost two weeks.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces continue their large-scale assault on northern Gaza for the tenth consecutive day, aiming to empty the region of its inhabitants.

Around 200,000 Palestinians in the North Gaza Province have been unable to access any food or drinking water for ten days, as they remain trapped in their homes or in shelters in which they had sought refuge, the Euro-Med Monitor said in a statement. The ongoing Israeli military onslaught has killed more than 350 Palestinians, injured hundreds and caused widespread destruction to homes and residential buildings.

The rights group also highlighted that dozens of Palestinians trapped in Jabalia Camp, driven by hunger and after exhausting their meagre supplies, yesterday headed to the main supply centre run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to obtain food for their families. However, Israeli occupation forces used quadcopters to shoot at them, killing ten and injuring at least forty others. Many of the victims remain in the streets, with efforts to transport them to hospitals being impossible as a result of the Israeli attacks.

Euro-Med Monitor stated that those who survive the intense bombardment are threatened by Israel with death through starvation and dehydration, as part of a declared policy to block aid delivery. This, it added, reflects an intent to use hunger as a weapon of war and impose living conditions aimed at the destruction of Palestinian people in Gaza, as part of an ongoing genocide.
