Israel settlers call for resettlement of Gaza

‘When you have an infection, you clean the infection,’ an Israeli settler tells Channel 4 News his plans for Palestinians in Gaza. Referring to them as an ‘infection’, he says 'mass deportations' should be carried out to 'cleanse' the area of its indigenous population. The interview took place only 4km from the besieged Gaza Strip, where 2 million Palestinians remain trapped and besieged, while Israel bombs them. Meanwhile, far-right Israelis gathered in the closed military zone around the enclave to call for the reestablishment of Jewish communities in Gaza. The 2-day conference, titled 'Preparing for the Resettlement of Gaza', saw participation from Likud Party members as well as Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

Hundreds of right-wing Israelis gathered at a conference held in the Gaza envelope yesterday to call for the re-establishment of Israeli settlements in the Palestinian strip.

Under the title “Preparing for the Resettlement of Gaza,” the conference was held in an area designated as a closed military zone by the Israeli occupation army, near the Be’eri settlement adjacent to Gaza.

The conference was convened by the Likud Party, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with the participation of ministers, members of parliament and activists from other right-wing parties. Later reports suggest the Likud pulled out of the event after it came under severe criticism.

May Golan, the minister for social equality and advancement of women from the Likud Party, called for the resettlement of Gaza. Haaretz quoted her saying: “We will strike them where it hurts the most – their land. Anyone who uses their land to plan another Holocaust will receive another Nakba from us.”
