A Palestinian teenager was pronounced dead on Wednesday after being shot by a Jewish settler in the occupied east Jerusalem district of Silwan, the Palestinian Information Centre has reported.
The Jerusalem governor’s office said that 17-year-old Omar Shuweiki was martyred after he suffered serious bullet wounds in Silwan, to the south of Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Israeli police detained the boy despite his critical condition.
Eyewitnesses said that they rushed to the scene after hearing three gunshots in Ein Al-Luza neighbourhood in Silwan. They identified the killer as a settler guard.
They added that police officers searched and detained the wounded boy and then covered him with a silver blanket before taking him away.
