Israelis confiscate more land for Separation Wall

January 30, 2014 at 10:00 am

The residents of the occupied West Bank city of Tulkarem said on Monday that the Israeli occupation authorities have decided to confiscate another 20 acres of land to accommodate the so-called Separation Wall. Local activist Mohamed Tuba told the Palestinian Safa news agency that the Israelis did not inform the residents about the land grab in time for them to appeal against the move.

“People in Al-Kifriyat neighbourhood in Southern Tulkarem found notes about the land grab on their farms,” said Mr Tuba. “Although the notes had all the details necessary to make an appeal, they were distributed ten days after the expiry of the appeal period.”

The land to be confiscated amounts to 20 acres but, once built, this section of the Wall will isolate hundreds of acres of land from its owners in the city. Palestinians in Tulkarem have not only lost land to the hated Wall but also to illegal settlements, which have taken “huge” areas of their land.
