The newly elected Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, said on Monday during his debut speech that he intends to maintain relations with the international community built on mutual respect.
He also pledged to continue his country’s uranium programme and ruled out its suspension.
Rouhani said that his priority during his term in office is to continue negotiations with the international community in order to reduce the pressure on Iran represented by the economic sanctions.
He also said that he is going to form a government consisting of moderate and technocrats which will align to the severely poor in the country.
